Asserting it initially is not going to accomplish anything.

But seriously, congratulations on the promotion, my friend. If you bring the same thoughtful quality of work to your company as you do to your editing it doesn’t surprise me at all you’re climbing the ladder… or rising through the ranks… or however the expression goes!

I think there’s a bit too much cynicism in this thread. Give the Director a break, they’re clearly working very hard, on something, here.

Hey, we’ve all seen those first, second and third films in the trilogy at the quality level that they were in when we saw them, right? At some point in time, Director is going to make available their versions for download, and then we’ll all be able to watch the trilogy again in the quality level they are going to be in.

I’m hugely excited.

It’s definitely got that unnatural AI quality to their movement so it isn’t quite working for me. I immediately felt like I was watching that Scene 38 YouTube thing. But as an experiment, it’s intriguing. It’s almost there and as the software improves, I wouldn’t be surprised if this kind of “extendAIsion” is a standard part of the process for some fan editors.

I think we’re all FAR too familiar with Return of the Jedi here to be able to accept new footage like this. It’d be fun to edit a minute of the film with a couple of AI shots like this inserted and show it to a normy. Would they be able to identify it?

I tried a while ago here and no joy. Looks like a user on here got banned for trying to sell their content.

I have the Google play version which appears to be mostly uncut/unedited apart from A Royal Flush, which is the 58 minutes edited version. But also have the magazine edition of the dvds which has this episode completely in its original full state.

I’m not sure if the Google play versions currently being sold are the same as what I have, but I’ve read that the iTunes versions are also meant to be uncut, yet others say they aren’t. Again, maybe later releases became cut again, and earlier releases weren’t?

Either way, a minefield, and would be amazing if it was possible to purchase a full set of all episodes, totally uncut and original.

The FULL run of the series in its original broadcast form is available on the internet archive. Just google “internet archive only fools and horses uncut”.

I like it, I like the pacing and the presentation - it both looks and feels better. Though there is one small thing I’d change if it were my edit. I’d remove the shot of the group exiting the shop, where Jar Jar is flopsying about in the doorway. Not because of any anti-Gungan sentiments, because mesa liken the Gungans, but when Padme says goodbye and smiles at Ani he doesn’t verbally respond, and we don’t see that it’s because he’s giving a little social smile back at her until after that shot of them all leaving. Ani mightn’t have had time to say anything because Watto flew in right behind Qui-Gon. So, if their exit is removed, we can go right from Padme’s face to Ani’s reaction, to him turning to look at Watto. It’s clear that they’re all leaving because of Qui-Gon speeding through and Padme turns to leave as she says goodbye so nothing important would be lost. To me, the rhythm is better and bringing those two shots together ends Padme and Ani’s first meeting on a connection rather than a separation, which is, I think, the point of that interaction.

Just my thoughts. But great work as usual, I love everything you’re doing here.

I don’t think that the eff word is necessary as her speech is powerful enough without it (to me, it actually feels like it takes something away from what she’s previously said.) But your work there is absolutely top notch - if it was broadcast like that, nobody would ever have known!

Also, let me shake your hand there, Movies Remastered, always appreciate a bit of Father Jack.

Have a good read of all his Revisited threads here from the beginning. You will see a man beset by bad luck, faulty equipment, garden fence catastrophe, poor health and family tragedy. But he persists, his work on these edits has almost taken him twenty years.

So assuming he hasn’t been crushed by a falling chandelier, assaulted by a disgruntled chimpanzee, or blinded by an exploding fire extinguisher then updates will be along at some point, I’m sure.

Hey Hal. I was rattling around the forum for a good while but I haven’t checked in for many years. I just wanted to add my thanks to everybody else’s for the edits you and your team have created. Wonderful stuff, and a real thrill to sit down and watch - especially Ascendant.

Some pretty bad damage from the snow storms and winds - this road is a couple of miles from where I live and about 200 metres has collapsed onto the beach.

Vulnerable people have had to be evacuated from a nearby village too. The worst that I’ve suffered is that our bird feeders have blown away and the roads have been closed so we can’t go anywhere. Still got food and power so I’m feeling very fortunate right now!!

I was hugely surprised when Mask of the Phantasm was released on blu-ray last year but now we’re getting Sub Zero?! Wow, good on them for putting all the series episodes which featured Mr. Freeze on as extras too!

This is a very interesting read. If the article is accurate I don’t think the status quo can hold once this case is settled. What do you guys think?

“47 Metres Down” (2017)

Decades ago a certain man made a film about sharks which defines the genre to this day. So much so that it’s impossible to watch a shark movie without comparing it to that classic, flawless piece of filmmaking. That man was, of course, Renny Harlin and the film was Deep Blue Sea.

Putting aside all comparisons, this story of two sisters whose cage dive goes disastrously wrong and leaves them trapped at the bottom of a shark infested sea with limited, and rapidly decreasing, air actually works really well. It’s well played by Mandy Moore and “that one from the telly whose name I can’t remember right now”. A bearded Matthew Modine shows up for a bit and does his best with what he’s given.

The sharks are superbly rendered cg (not that I’d ever claim to be an expert on such things but they look very realistic!) and although they are of the Hollywood “HUMANS, I KILL YOU BECAUSE NOM NOM!” variety they aren’t overused and feel like a real threat.

Way better than I was expecting and a fun way to spend a Saturday night in a switch-off-yer-brain kind of way.

Whether or not you appreciate the story choices made in the last act will no doubt have a big impact of your opinion of the film because it’s, yeah, it’s a bit of a slap in the face. Personally, I liked how it went because I really wasn’t expecting things to turn out the way they did. A claustrophobic, tense and scary 80-odd minutes.

I give it 7.5 chum buckets out of 10.

I went to Sweden for three weeks at the beginning of the year, didn’t post here at all and nobody noticed!

I like yhwx. He’s got a gentle way about him and he seems like the kind of chap who’d never deliberately do anything hurtful and if he did, he’d genuinely feel bad about it. He can sometimes be a tad passive aggressive but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’d like to think that if we were in each other’s circles in real life we’d be pals.

Yeah… intelligent, caring and he likes Star Wars. I give him a 9 out of 10 (I deducted a point for the smell.)

Here’s the most specific and detailed prediction yet!..

Inspired by a few recent clickbait headlines and some general noggin work I predict that the next animated Star Wars series will take place in the years leading up to Episode VII (similarly to how Rebels precedes Episode IV.)

The main characters will not have been seen before but will consist of a young person, a teen, an older man or woman or both, at least one alien and a droid.

The stories will have The First Order’s rise to power as a backdrop and we’ll occasionally get cameos from some of the characters from the sequel trilogy and canon novels from that period.

We will see Maz Kanata obtaining Luke’s lightsaber (and probably Obi-Wan’s entire chest too.) We’ll see Snoke, Phasma and Hux getting up to no good and we’ll likely see Han and Chewie in an episode too. Luke and Leia will no doubt be encountered in some way and more than likely Lor San Tekka will turn up too.

The show will last for three seasons and will begin airing in 2019. The trailer will air around Christmas this year and the first episode will be shown at Celebration 2019 (which I’m predicting will take place in New York) and the full season will air from September next year.

Finally, I predict that when Dave Filoni introduces us to this new series on an episode of the Star Wars show he’ll be wearing a hat.
